In partnership with the American Center Jerusalem we recently completed a series of workshops with two passionate and inspiring schools in Jerusalem.
75 students from the schools L’Yada and Rawad al Quds came together at the American Center Jerusalem (ACJ) to learn negotiation skills, practice their English and get to know people from a very different community and background.
As in all of our workshops, participants were exposed to negotiation skills through activities, games, demonstrations and simulated negotiations.
One student remarked “I like the way we learn through games and fake arguments”, while another said “I liked the negotiation in pairs because I got to practice the skills that we learned. I also got to talk to nice people after we got to an agreement.”
Not only did the students enjoy themselves, they also learned new skills and made new connections.
We are very grateful for our partnership with the American Center. This program was made possible because of you. You provided all of the means necessary to make such a program happen and particularly Jenny Sternlicht. Thank you Jenny for your tireless efforts, and there were many, to afford the students and all of us this experience.
This program was part 2 of our partnership with the ACJ in 2020/2021. We also completed a program for the ACJ alumni and will be continuing to work with them into 2022. You can read about our negotiation course for ACJ alumni and young professionals here.
Some quotes from the students:
“I liked the negotiation in pairs because I got to practice the skills that we learned. I also got to talk to nice people after we got to an agreement.”
“I liked the idea and the crew; it was so much fun. I loved the demonstrations with real-life situations. It was perfect.”
73% of students from L’yada (on the 14-15 December workshop) said they’d be ‘interested’ or ‘very interested’ in a follow up workshop or event with the same students. Not one student surveyed said they were ‘not interested’.
